Golf:v Longniddry get back in the groove

LONGNIDDRY stepped up their bid for a first title triumph in 27 years after beating defending champions Glen away as the East Lothian Winter League resumed following the festive break.

The 4-1 win moved the visitors level on points with Tantallon, who lost at home to a Gullane side that is still in the title hunt as well two points behind with a game in hand. But Keith Cunningham’s Longniddry side are in pole position due to a better ‘goal’ difference and they’ll also be encouraged by having home advantage for two of their three remaining matches.

For the Glen, this latest defeat all but confirms a return to the Second Division.
