Scrum on down to summer golf camps, says rugby ace Greig

SCOTLAND rugby star Greig Laidlaw is urging young golfers to sign up for ClubGolf Camps, five of which are being held in and around Edinburgh in July.

Laidlaw helped launch this year’s programme with two-time European Tour winner Alastair Forsyth and is backing it to be a huge success.

“I definitely would have taken part in ClubGolf Camps as a kid,” said Laidlaw, who cut his golfing teeth at Jedburgh. “I loved getting outside and playing different sports and golf was one of my favourite pastimes.

“I would encourage kids to give golf a try this summer and especially ClubGolf Camps, which look set to be a fantastic few days for everyone.”

Launched for the first time last year, ClubGolf Camps were welcomed by 53 clubs around the country, providing almost 800 youngsters with the opportunity to enjoy a week-long programme of activities.

This year’s event is set to be even bigger and better with 79 venues confirmed as host camps. These will run between 10am-2pm each day at a cost of £40 for the week.

Prestonfield, Haddington and Dundas Parks host camps on July 1-5, there’s one at Turnhouse from July 3-5 and at Fisherrow Links on July 8-12.

Registration closes June 9 – visit www.clubgolfscotland.com/camp2013 for details.
