Needing to finish in the top 15 at the conclusion of next month’s Grand Final in Oman, McLeary and McArthur are eighth and ninth respectively while Henry is clinging on by his fingernails in 14th spot.

The Volopa Irish Challenge hosted by Mount Wolseley is the third last event on the schedule, so offers the trio a chance to either improve or cement their positions.

The event is also a mini-reunion for half of the victorious Great Britain & Ireland Walker Cup team as Irish quartet Gavin Moynihan, Jack Hume, Gary Hurley and Cormac Sharvin are joined in the line-up at the Carlow venue by Englishman Jimmy Mullen.

Elsewhere, Pamela Pretswell, fresh from her latest top-10 finish, spearheads the Scottish challenge in the LET’s Xiamen International Ladies Open, starting today in China.
