Scots golf amateurs bid for success on three continents

SCOTLAND’S leading amateurs are bidding for early season successes on three continents this week ahead of the new domestic campaign.

In South Africa, the Northern Amateur Championship at Randpark is already underway and into the match-play phase. Four Scots made it through in the top 12, headed by Cawder’s Jamie Savage in second behind South African Haydn Porteous.

Starting today in Spain, meanwhile, is the European Nations Cup at Sotogrande, where Dean Robertson is aiming to lead Jack McDonald, Graeme Robertson, James White and Matthew Clark to victory.

It’s been a busy start to 2013 for Ewan Scott and, after trips to Australia and South Africa, he’s now at Mission Hills in China for the Faldo Series Asia Grand Final.

Closer to home, some of Scott’s potential rivals in next month’s Scottish Boys at Monifieth are in France for the Boys Quadrangular, which starts tomorrow in Provence.
