Sam Horsfield withdraws from US Open following positive Covid test
Englishman Sam Horsfield, a two-time winner on the European Tour's recent UK Swing, has become the second player to withdraw from this week's US Open following a positive Covid-19 test.
the 24-year-old tested negative on a pre-arrival test taken last week but, along with American Scottie Scheffler, who withdrew on Sunday, has now tested positive ahead of the second men's major of the season.

Hide Ad"He is asymptomatic and feeling well," said the USGA, organisers of this week's event at Winged Foot, north-east of New York, in a statement.
Horsfield, who was set to play in his fourth US Open after appearances in 2015, 2016 and 2019, won the Hero Open at Forest of Arden and Celtic Classic at Celtic Manor.
That double success saw him top a mini order of merit on the European Tour offering 10 spots in the US Open, with Scot Connor Syme also securing one of those berths.
“Sam has had an excellent year on the European Tour, winning the UK series to earn a spot in this year’s US Open at Winged Foot, and we are disappointed to lose a player of his caliber from the field,” said John Bodenhamer, the USGA's senior managing director of championships.
“Sam has a wonderful USGA pedigree (having also played in four US Amateurs and three US Junior Amateurs) and we look forward to watching him play in future US Open Championships.”
Horsfield's place has been taken by world No 92 and six-time PGA Tour winner Rory Sabatini, who now flys the flag for Slovakia.
