wallace Booth and Elliot Saltman are among a clutch of players battling for Challenge Tour cards in the PGA EuroPro Tour Championship, which tees off today at Woburn.

Grantown-on-Spey man Duncan Stewart has already secured his step up to the second-tier circuit next season, all that’s left for him at the end of a successful campaign being a chance to climb above Welshman Stuart Manley to top the money-list.

But the pressure is on both Booth, lying in the fifth and final card spot, and Saltman, who’s just one place below his compatriot, heading into the 54-hole event over the Marquess Course at the Buckinghamshire venue.

Having qualified for the final stage of the European Tour Qualifying School, Booth has another route in his bid to graduate to the Challenge Tour as making the cut in Girona at the end of the month will guarantee that reward.

But, after missing out at stage two in southern Spain at the weekend, this is the last throw of the dice for Saltman this year as he lines up in a 60-stong field that also contains 2003 Scottish Boys’ champion Paul Doherty (25th on the money-list) and former Tartan Tour No 1 Chris Kelly (33rd).
