Richie Ramsay kept off course by eye problem

RICHIE Ramsay will be forced to sit out his third event in a row when he misses this week’s British Masters at Woburn with an ongoing eye problem.

“It is still on the mend and may take time some time to be 100 per cent as the vision with my left eye is still blurry,” the three-times European Tour winner said.

Ramsay, who triumphed in the Hassan Trophy in Morocco earlier in the season, has slipped to 44th in the Race to Dubai with three events to go before the start of the “Final Series”.

“The problem I have is called anterior uveitis, but I don’t know how you get it,” he added. “I just need to stay positive and, ideally, I’ll be able to return in Turkey at the end of the month.”

Ramsay’s absence means a seven-strong Scottish contingent – Marc Warren, Stephen Gallacher, Chris Doak, Scott Jamieson, David Drysdale, Craig Lee and Paul Lawrie – will tee up in the first British Masters since 2008.
