Only certain clubs to get cash refund from Scottish Golf

Governing body outlines process by which it will allocate fee reductions and credits

Only clubs which have fully paid 2019-20 affiliation fees to Scottish Golf are being offered a 25 per cent cash refund by the governing body.

The others have been told they will have to settle for either a reduction to what they owe or a credit towards the 2020-21 affiliation fees.

Scottish Golf set out its plans on 27 April about how it intended to help member clubs during the coronavirus crisis. The governing body’s commitment in the shape of a 25 per cent refund on the 2019-20 affiliation fee of £14.50 per club member is worth in excess of £575,000 of support.

As promised, Scottish Golf has now outlined its process for dealing with rebates, sending out two different letters. Both offer three options, two of which are effectively the same but, while clubs which have already paid the 2019-20 fees are being offered a cash refund now, clubs with an outstanding balance are instead being offered a reduction on the current balance.

The other options in both letters is for the rebate to be carried towards the 2020-21 fee or donate it to the national club support fund set up by Scottish Golf to support other clubs severely impacted by the Covid-19 outbreak.
