In a post released today on his social media channels, Horan announced he’s set to team up with McIlroy in the Omega Dubai Desert Classic Pro-Am on 24 January.

“I’m delighted to confirm my attendance at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic in January,” said the One Direction star, a keen golfer who caddied for McIlroy in the Par-3 Contest at The Masters in 2015.

“It’s an incredible event on the European Tour schedule and I am very much looking forward to playing with my pal Rory in the Pro-Am and attending a Friday night clinic also.

“Thanks to Omega and Golf in Dubai for the invite. I’ve not been to Dubai for a while so am very much looking forward to returning.”

Horan’s passion for golf led him to getting involved in the setting up of a management company, Modest! Golf, and its clients include Scottish star Connor Syme, who recently secured his European Tour card.

Horan and McIlroy will be partnered in the event by the winner of a competition that is also offering a seven-night stay in Dubai, including flights.
