Golf: Scottish sextet get off to a poor start

A six-strong Scottish contingent got off to a disappointing start in the Terre Blanche Ladies Open, the first event on this year’s development circuit.

Katy McNicoll’s three-over-par 76 was the pick of the bunch on the French Riviera, where American Mallory Fraiche set the pace with a 69.

Pamela Pretswell, who topped last year’s order of merit, opened with a 77, as did Pamela Feggans, while Heather MacRae had to settle for a 79.

Gemma Webster is two shots further back, while rookie Laura Murray slumped to an 85 that left her well down the field on her LET professional debut.

Fraice, a 25-year-old from New Orleans, fired six birdies and two bogeys over Le Riou course at Terre Blanche as she opened up a two-hole lead in the 54-hole event.
