Golf: Katy McNicoll cashes in at Trump event

Carnoustie’s Katy McNicoll won the £1,000 top prize in the Paul Lawrie Golf Centre Scottish Ladies Open Tour event, the Saltire Energy Classic 1, at Trump International Links yesterday.

Despite losing two balls in the thick rough over the first two holes, McNicoll went on to shoot a great score of two-over-par 74.

She won by two shots from the Carnoustie teenage amateur, Jess Meek, who is building up a phenomenal record in the new tour which is open to lady pros and single-figure handicap amateurs.
