Golf: Jodi Ewart Shadoff on a Mission

England’s Jodi Ewart Shadoff stayed in the hunt for the Kraft Nabisco Championship title at Mission Hills, California and admits she prefers to be chasing than leading.

The first-round co-leader had a solid level-par 72 after a dazzling first-round 68 to fall into a share of fifth place, three shots behind new leader Inbee Park. South Korean Park carded a best-of-the-day five-under 67 to open a one-shot lead over American Lizette Salas, who went round in 68.

Sweden’s Caroline Hedwall and Italian Giulia Sergas were tied for third on five under after their respective rounds of 68 and 69, while Ewart Shadoff stands, one stroke back.

Scotland’s Catriona Matthew is in a tie for 36th place on one-over after adding a 73 to her opening 72.
