Fraser McKenna relishing defence of title

THE opening event to the men’s domestic amateur season, the Scottish Champion of Champions at Leven Links, takes place this weekend.

Balmore’s Fraser McKenna is bidding to retain the title he won 12 months ago and has been working hard on his game over the winter in Abu Dhabi and South Africa, as part of the SGU’s winter performance programme.

Strong runs to the quarter-finals of the South African Amateur Championship and the Northern Amateur Open in the Rainbow Nation highlighted his endeavours, and he said: “My game is feeling good and I’m just looking forward to getting going now. If all goes to plan, I’d like to challenge for a Walker Cup place.”
