Scottish duo Paul McKechnie and Zack Saltman are both in contention heading into the final round of the Sweeptspot Classic at Longhirst Hall in Northumberland.

A second-round 65 catapulted Irishman Colm Moriarty to the top of the leaderboard on eight-under-par, but he has both McKechnie and Saltman breathing down his neck.

McKechnie, who is attached to the Braid Hills Golf Centre and won on the third-tier circuit at Lossiemouth last month, is just one behind after adding a 66 to his opening 77.

And overnight leader Saltman – the Archerfield ace had opened with a 63 – is still in the hunt on six-under after a 71.

Also within striking distance of Moriarty is Edinburgh-based Welshman Gareth Wright on three-under.
