Robertson received his prize “out of the blue” at the opening ceremony for The Prestige Intercollegiate Invitational at PGA West at La Quinta in California, where Stirling are competing this week against 11 top US teams.

“I was extremely moved, lost for words and honoured to have received such a magnificent award,” said Robertson, Stirling’s high performance coach, after succeeding Mike Watney, uncle of PGA Tour player Nick and the now retired long-time Fresno State coach on the roll of honour.

“This game has given me so many highs and lows, for which I am truly thankful, and I am fortunate to now have a job that allows me to give back to the game that has been my life and help nurture some fine young talented individuals as they grow to realise their potential.”

Representing Stirling, the European champions, are Zan-der Culverwell, Jack McDonald, Craig Howie, Mathias Eggenberger and Cormac Sharvin.
