Blairgowrie to host Ryder Cup event

BLAIRGOWRIE is trying to get Scottish golfers in Ryder Cup mood by hosting a special event costing £20.14p to mark next year’s event at Gleneagles.

The Open event is being staged on 27 April – 500 days before the Perthshire course hosts the Junior Ryder Cup. “To host the Junior Ryder Cup at Blairgowrie in 2014 is a fantastic honour,” said the club’s managing secretary, Douglas Cleeton.

“We have many events planned to celebrate the build-up to the event and our Open competition is a fantastic opportunity not only to play at the venue of the Junior Ryder Cup (and Scottish Amateur Championship in 2013), but also to win prizes that will be related to the Junior Ryder Cup and Ryder Cup in 2014.”

The club is also hosting an Open Day on 28 April to celebrate the Junior Ryder Cup and clubgolf, Scotland’s national
junior programme.
