Golf: Turnhouse turn screw in Winter League with Ratho win

TURNHOUSE strengthened their position at the top of Section A after a convincing home win over Ratho Park in the West Edinburgh Winter League.

Juniors Connor Black and Mikey Reid earned praise for their performances in the 4-0 whitewash, having “played golf well in advance of their years”.

In the closest of the four matches, Steven Armstrong and Olly McCrone joined forces to carve out a 2 and 1 win over Ally MacPhail and Neil Sneddon.

In the other Section A encounter, Kingsknowe pulled off an excellent victory at Bruntsfield Links, the visitors winning that one 2…-1….

Three of the four matches went the distance, including the top encounter, which was eventually won by Allyn Dick and Stephen McNaughton. In Section B, Dalmahoy’s miserable campaign continued as they went down 2…–1… at Swanston New. It leaves the Marriott men trailing leaders Royal Burgess by seven points.
