Golf: A Templar for new talent . .

A GOLF programme tailored for beginners has been re-introduced at Swanston New, which has used its Templar course to great effect in trying to attract newcomers to the game in recent years.

The programme has been designed by the club's golf manager Stuart Campbell and is aimed at both "the returning golfer and complete novices/beginners". Campbell said: "We are offering this package at Swanston because we feel new and returning golfers need a programme which not only gives them a coaching element but, importantly, offers golf education.

"Golfers in the past have joined a club, possibly taken lessons, but rarely been offered golf course or education/information pertaining to the club.

"We will offer ten hours of coaching on the range and on course, education on basic rules and etiquette and, how to take their skills to the golf course."

Pupils can also play in the twice monthly 'Friday Night Social Golf Evenings' on the Templar course.
