Golf: Teens shine at Portobello

Two teenagers are through to tonight’s semi-final of the Harry Lauder golf trophy at 
Portobello.

In last night’s ties, Musselburgh Old course 19-year-old Matthew Craigie, son of host club official Kenny, defeated 
defending champion Duncan Ireland from Duddingston on the 17th, while 14-year-old Kieran Cantley, from Liberton, took his place in the last four by beating Kenny Craigie.

In the other ties, former winner John Semple, from Duddingston, beat Paul Marshall 3 & 2 and Portobello champion John Ralston won on the 18th against Johan Svard, the 1-handicap Craigentinny course starter. The semi-final line-up pitches Semple against Craigie, while Ralston faces Cantley.
