Golf: McLeod moves up rankings

MUSSELBURGH’S Benn McLeod has moved into second spot in this season’s Damm
Environmental Ltd Lothians Order of Merit.

It follows him finishing joint-third in the latest counting event – the 36-hole Gullane Open. That was won by North Berwick’s Weston Main, whose total of 160 gave him a one-shot triumph over Craig Deerness. McLeod was a further shot back alongside Duddingston’s Duncan Low. After five events, Pumpherston’s Paul Drake is still on course to do the double after his Lothians Championship win earlier in the year.

Leading positions: 1 P Drake (Pumpherston) 215pts; 2 B McLeod (Musselburgh) 143; 3 C Wood (North Berwick) 121; 4 4 G Corrigan (Greenburn) 109; 5 A Dick (Kingsknowe), W Main (North Berwick) 100; 7 J Rhind (Uphall) 96; 8 C Deerness (Harburn) 85; 9 G Thorburn (Newbattle) 78; 10 J Ralston (Shotts) 72.
