Before teeing it up against ex-US Curtis Cup player Meghan Stasi in the first semi-final this morning, the 19-year-old Stirling University student said was driven by a desire to win not only a place in the afternoon final but also the title itself to make the GB&I selectors squirm.

After beating Spain's Adriana Zwank 2 and 1 and then American Olivia Lansing by a similar margin, Kelsey said: "Whether I would have had the motivation to win the Scottish title and get through here had I not been ignored by the Curtis Cup selectors, I leave for other people to argue about."

The other semi-final featured Kelly Tidy of Royal Birkdale and Rebecca Lee-Bentham from Toronto. Tidy beat Sally Watson (Elie and Earlsferry) by one hole in the quarter-finals.
