Golf: Kings of clubs

HOLDERS Kingsknowe were among the big winners in the first round of the Edinburgh Ladies Inter-Club tournament at Ratho Park, beating Newbattle 10 and 9 across the double foursome.

Dalmahoy, Broomieknowe and Craigmillar Park also won convincingly, but some of the other matches needed extra time to split teams. The quarter-finals take place today.

First round: Merchants bt Ratho Park at 19th; Glencorse bt Murrayfield 4 and 3; Musselburgh bt Lothianburn 6 and 5; Kingsknowe bt Newbattle 10 and 9; Craigmillar Park bt Liberton 7 and 5; Dalmahoy bt Royal Musselburgh 11 and 9; Broomieknowe bt Prestonfield 7 and 6; Baberton bt Turnhouse at 21st.
