Golf: Harrison and Silverknowes at home for semi-finals

HARRISON and Silverknowes will have home advantage in the semi-finals in the Edinburgh Municipal Golf Clubs’ Winter League.Carrickvale will be Harrison’s opponents on Saturday week while Silverknowes are up against Lochend in their last-four tie.

Lochend progressed after drawing 2-2 against Harrison at the Braids in their final group game.

In a tight match, Lochend secured the point they needed as David Graham got up and down at the last for a one-hole win in partnership with Alan Thomson.

It meant disappointment for Edinburgh Western, who needed Harrison to win that match for them to go through instead of Lochend.

Silverknowes made home advantage count against Braids United to top the other group ahead of Carrickvale.

Harrison 2, Lochend 2: John Cafferty and Stuart More halved with Neil Donaldson and Duncan Ireland; Andy Laurence and Brian Byars bt Paul Young and Alan Young 2 and 1; Justin White and Scott Knowles halved with Stuart Turner and Colin Farwell; Alan Stewart and Cameron Bruce lost to David Graham and Alan Thomson one hole.
