Golf: Campbell coup

SWANSTON NEW'S Malcolm Campbell conjured up one of the best rounds of the season so far on the Capital circuit to lift the Whitburgh Cup at Newbattle, the latest event in the Lothians Order of Merit.

The left-hander shot a six-under-par 63 in his second round for a 36-hole total of 132, winning by three shots from Pumpherston's Paul Drake (65, 70) and Dunbar's Craig Neilson (69, 66).

Silverknowes stages a counting event for the first time on Saturday.
