Golf: Airens lands the Alliance

DANIEL AIRENS claimed his third trophy of the season – and the fourth by a Falkirk Tryst player – in the Edinburgh & East of Scotland Alliance.

Following clubmate William Hunter’s success at Dalmahoy a fortnight ago, Airens lifted the Ramsay Trophy with a net 66 at Dunbar. The ten-handicapper came home in level-par to finish four shots clear of second-placed Alex Webster from Niddry Castle, with Glencorse scratch man Sean McGarvey a shot further back in third.

On a day when just under 100 players enjoyed a dry day on a well-manicured course, McGarvey’s performance was enough to take him into top spot in both the scratch and handicap order of merits.

The scratch spoils were shared by Turnhouse pro Scott Grieve and Houston Driving Range-based Andrew Marshall, who signed for 70s.
