Glasgow Rocks slay spirited Pirates

GLASGOW Rocks shook off a spirited showing from BBL strugglers Essex Pirates last night before grabbing a 90-78 win that lifts the Kelvin Hall outfit into fourth place.

Sterling Davis' men trailed 39-34 at half-time but avoided an upset with an emphatic rally. The Scots surged seven points clear in the third period and turned the screw for a fourth successive victory.

Meanwhile, Great Britain's men will meet Macedonia, Bosnia, Hungary and Ukraine in this summer's qualifiers for the 2011 Eurobasket finals after lucking out with a favourable draw yesterday.
