Former Alloa player Christie to take reins as Rose boss

Bonnyrigg ROSE have moved quickly to appoint Max Christie as new manager.

Christie, son of former Meadowbank, Stenhousemuir and Alloa boss Terry Christie, will take over from Allan Miller at the end of the season.

Max played under his father at Alloa for many seasons and is hoping that experience will stand him in good stead for the challenges ahead.

"This was unexpected to say the least," he said. "I spoke to Charlie Kirkwood, Bonnyrigg's chairman on Sunday and shook hands on the deal. It's going to be a hard act to follow Alan Miller because he's built up a super squad to take over.

"Alan did terrifically well at Bonnyrigg and I hope to continue that success. The club aren't far off challenging for trophies and it's up to me to take them that stage further. It's a great opportunity to work with these players and one I'm really looking forward to. I have Steve Ellison as my assistant and he's a favourite with the punters."

Meanwhile, in the Super League last night an incredible match at Creamery Park saw Bathgate and Bo'ness United draw 3-3.

Bo'ness had Jamie Hay sent off after only 14 minutes but took the lead with an Andy Shirra penalty. Brian McColligan equalised for Bathgate, who then took the lead early in the second half with a Stewart Hunter own goal. Shirra levelled for Bo'ness with another penalty before they had Graeme Guy and then Grant Plenderleith sent off. Lee Johnston scored from the penalty spot to put Bathgate 3-2 up. However, Shirra completed a tremendous hat-trick with a couple of minutes remaining to save a point.
