Yorkston fury at call-off decision

Dunfermline chairman John Yorkston has branded referee Bobby Madden’s decision to postpone yesterday’s visit of Kilmarnock as ‘ridiculous’ – and plans to make an official complaint.

The SPL clash was called off an hour-and-a-half before kick-off by the official due to thick fog. Overnight snow had been cleared from the East End Park pitch but Madden called the match off to ‘protect’ the players.

Yorkston was left fuming after the mist dispersed by 3pm. He said: “I’m standing here at the corner flag and you can see the opposite corner flag, there is absolutely no reason why the game should not be played.”

Referee Madden said: “My decision made at 1.30pm was that the game was not playable. It’s all about credibility and safety. My decisions have to be credible and I have to protect the players.”
