St Johnstone 0 - 0 York City: Stalemate with Saints and York

ST JOHNSTONE kept their first-choice team in reserve as a youthful line-up battled to a goalless draw with English League Two outfit York City, writes Iain Collin.

Saints handed trials to one-time Hibernian and Manchester United winger Danny Galbraith and ex-Dundee United and Falkirk midfielder Mark Millar, but manager Tommy Wright has been told he does not have the funds to add to the squad that earned the Perth club their historic Scottish Cup final triumph in May.

Only Michael O’Halloran and Tam Scobbie of the players used in the 1-1 draw with FC Luzern in Thursday’s Europa League qualifier were given any time as the combined defensive efforts of Scobbie and keeper Steve Banks, as well as the visitors’ poor finishing, kept the score-line blank.
