Women’s football: Glasgow City complete league and cup double

Glasgow City put their Champions League disappointment quickly behind them yesterday, when they completed the domestic double by lifting the Henson Project Scottish Cup, following a 3-0 win over Hibernian at Toryglen.

City went 1-0 up after ten minutes when Lisa Evans skipped past three Hibernian defenders before cutting the ball back to Christie Murray, who fired into the back of the net.

City took a 2-0 lead into the second half following great play between Kat Lindner and Evans which saw Lindner back heel the ball to Evans before she placed a right foot shot into the bottom corner.

Evans then linked well with Danica Dalziel to settle the game with a killer third.

City coach Eddie Wolecki said, “I felt we controlled the match throughout and limited a strong Hibs side to few chances. This just caps off a marvellous season for everyone and hopefully we can do even better next year.”
