Whitehill boss Lawson seeks to dish out a lesson to students of Heriot-Watt at Riccarton

Whitehill WELFARE manager Mike Lawson, fresh from a 4-3 win against Tynecastle at the weekend, takes his team to Riccarton tonight to face the students of Heriot-Watt University in the Central 
Taxis Premier Division (kick-off 7.45pm).

“Tynecastle will cause lots of teams problems because they are a very good attacking side with Jamie Devlin and Jamie Butler looking particularly sharp,” said Lawson. “However, we also played some good football going forward and we will definitely score goals this season.

“We now play a team of students who will be high in confidence after their win against Preston Athletic on Saturday. We are expecting a hard game and to be honest we are still finding our feet. Tonight’s line-up will change from Saturday because we also play this coming Friday night (against Hearts).

“We have experienced players and tonight Alan Brown and Darren McGlashan come into the reckoning after being unavailable at the weekend. We also have youngster John McDonald pushing for a place. In fact, tonight will be the first occasion this season that we will have a full dressing-room.”

Heriot-Watt University opened their campaign with a 2-1 victory against Preston Athletic which had head coach Michael Renwick saying: “Tonight against Whitehill we will be very positive and I am excited about our squad for this season. I know that Micky [Lawson] will have Whitehill playing at the top of their game.”

Renwick has a full squad including Saturday’s goalscorers Michael Connor and Ronnie Napier and he may introduce a Norwegian student as a 
trialist.

Elsewhere tonight, Preston Athletic host Civil Service Strollers (kick-off, 7.45pm) and Spartans welcome Gretna 2008 to Ainslie Park (7.45pm).
