Another frustrating evening to be endured for this Hibs team as they dominated - “battered” in the words of Neil Lennon - Rangers for the majority of the fixture and yet had nothing to show for their efforts. Following Lewis Stevenson’s opener inside nine minutes, it looked like it could be a one-sided hammering with wave after wave of attacks crashing against the away defence. Instead, two goals in the space of five minutes from Josh Windass and Alfredo Morelos turned the result on its head. Hibs continued to surge forward in the second period, hitting the post twice and having a clear penalty shout denied, but couldn’t make the breakthrough.
Aberdeen 4 - 1 Hibs; Sat 16 Dec
The punishing schedule finally catches up the players as Lennon’s men put in their worst performance of the season to meekly lose to Aberdeen. The hosts, inspired by Gary Mackay-Steven, race into a 3-0 half-time lead after the former Dundee United man scores twice after setting up Graeme Shinnie to open the scoring. Despite a change of personnel and system at the break, Hibs can’t get back into it and fall 4-0 down when Mackay-Steven completes his hat-trick. Aberdeen are unfortunate not to net a fifth when Andy Considine is flagged for offside before Anthony Stokes manages to squeeze in a late consolation.

Hide AdHibs manage to recover from conceding an early goal to get back to winning ways in the Ladbrokes Premiership. Craig Curran gave County an early lead as the relegation strugglers threatened to heap misery on their capital counterparts. However, Anthony Stokes tied the game up seven minutes later with a header from just outside the six-yard box. The home side pushed for a winner and finally got it with 15 minutes remaining. Whether it was Oli Shaw or Ross County’s Kenny van der Weg who got the final touch to divert Brandon Barker’s cross into the back of the net, few inside Easter Road cared all that much.
Hearts 0 - 0 Hibs; Wed 27 Dec
A drab Edinburgh derby saw Hibs sustain their unbeaten run against their arch-rivals, stretching it to nine games. However, the evening could have been all the more sweeter if the officials had correctly judged Oli Shaw’s early shot to have crossed the line after it hit the bar. In the end, the noisy away crowd were content with a point.
Hibs 1 - 1 Kilmarnock; Sat 30 Dec
A typical performance from Hibs in the context of this season. Neil Lennon’s side had most of the possession and territory, yet struggled to break through a stubborn Kilmarnock rearguard. The goal they did manage, netted by Oli Shaw, was scored after goalkeeper Jamie MacDonald committed a clanger, dropping the ball at the striker’s feet. That cancelled out an early strike from veteran hitman Kris Boyd.
