Valladolid triumph as Perez downs Levante

Victor Perez twice scored from the spot as Valladolid emerged from a bad-tempered clash with Levante to win 2-0 last night, their first home game back in the Primera Division.

The 24-year-old, who scored eight goals last season to help the Pucela to promotion, was on target in the 38th and 48th minutes on a fiery night in the north of Spain.

Referee Ignacio Iglesias Villanueva brandished six yellow cards and one red – that to Levante defender David Navarro – as tempers frayed.

Motherwell are due to play Levante in Spain on Thursday in the second leg of their Europa League tie.
