Dalkeith Thistle 1Tranent 1

There was no shortage of excitement as the points were shared in this top-of-the-table South Division clash.

On a heavy King’s Park surface, Tranent took the lead on 17 minutes when Andy Scott beat the offside trap to round Thistle keeper Jim McQueen and slot home for his 18th goal of the season. Kevin Haynes powered in a header from a Jay Hunter cross on 43 minutes for the equaliser.

Tranent missed a golden opportunity at the start of the second half when Scott shot past the post with just McQueen to beat. Michael Fairney blazed his close-range shot over the bar for Tranent on 61 minutes.

At the other end, Sinclair Inglis tipped a netbound David Morris header over the bar and Sean Lally cleared a Haynes shot off the line. Both sides pushed for a late winner.
