Third division: Toiling Berwick eye pick-me-up

The third division sees three games being played tonight.

Berwick v Peterhead

Berwick manager Ian Little reckons his men need to win tonight to keep their slim play-off hopes alive. The Borderers lost 2-0 at home to bottom side East Stirling at the weekend. “I am looking for a positive reaction as we need a win,” said Little, who has Steve Notman available, but is without Chris McLeod.

Improving Peterhead are likely to have Raymond Jellema in goal, with Paul Jarvie injured in Saturday’s win over Annan. Ryan Strachan returns, but Scott Ross and Rory McAllister are out.

Elgin City v Clyde

Elgin’s only defeat at home this season in the league has come at the hands of Clyde and manager Ross Jack is looking to put that right tonight, while also making it five wins in a row.

The Borough Briggs side have moved back into a play-off place and Jack said: “We were in the top four earlier in the season, but we lost that as our away form was poor and postponements worked against us as well. Now we are back there we have to look to stay there.”

Elgin miss John Calder, Graeme Beveridge, Paul Kaczan and Ross O’Donoghue but Brian Cameron and Paul Millar are both likely to feature. Clyde keeper David Crawford is out, so on-loan Celtic youngster Nick Feely will deputise. Daniel Fitzpatrick and Jack Sloss are out and Jason Marr is a doubt.

Montrose v Queen’s Park

Montrose, who have lost their last 13 games against Queen’s Park, are without injured winger David Di Milta. “What has happened in the past is not really relevant to this game,” said Montrose manager Ray Farningham. The promotion-chasing Spiders welcome back Jamie Brough, and he could replace Darryl Meggat who is struggling with injury.
