Teenager arrested over Twitter abuse of Leigh Griffiths' children

Police have confirmed that a 15 year-old boy has been arrested after offensive comments were made online about Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths' children.

The boy, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was arrested after officers launched an investigation at the weekend following abusive comments made about

the Parkhead frontman’s four children.

The 25-year-old Scotland international, who regularly engages with other Twitter users, was left shocked and saddened by the post and announced that he was leaving the social network.

He was targeted on Twitter after Celtic’s Scottish Cup victory against East Kilbride on Sunday.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “A 15-year-old boy has been arrested and is the subject of a report to the procurator fiscal in connection with alleged offensive comments made online.”
