Rangers are poised to make their 15th signing of the summer with a deal for Gareth McAuley expected to be completed in the next few days.
The Northern Ireland international centre-back is a free agent after leaving West Brom in May.
Aberdeen and Hearts, as well as a few clubs in England, had been battling it out for his signature, though it seems Rangers have won the race.
Speaking after his side’s 1-0 defeat to rivals Celtic, Steven Gerrard confirmed that a deal was close to completion.
He said: “I hope that it is going to be the case. There is no rush on it. That will be the last deal.”
