Revealed: Celtic and Rangers fans want new centre-back in transfer window

The Ibrox side were yesterday linked with a loan move for Swansea City winger Dyer, who won the English Premier League during a loan spell at Leicester City in 2016.

Meanwhile, reports in Portugal stated that Gauld was on his way back to Scotland to join the Ibrox side in an initial loan deal that would have the option of a permanent transfer.

The midfielder moved to Sporting Lisbon from Dundee United for a £3 million fee in the summer of 2014, but has failed to make the breakthrough at the Portuguese giants.

Gerrard, however, dismissed each link as pure speculation as he looks to add a couple of new faces to his squad before the end of the transfer window.

Asked if there’s anything in the Gauld report, he said: “Nothing. I’ve been asked about Nathan Dyer and there’s nothing in that either.

“Hopefully we can get a centre-back in. I’m not sure if it’s loan or permanent – could be either.”
