Hearts boss Craig Levein announces intended comeback date on Twitter

Craig Levein is aiming to be back in the dugout for his side's Ladbrokes Premiership match with Motherwell in mid-September, the Hearts boss has announced on social media.

The 53-year-old suffered a health scare on Monday after being admitted to hospital in the morning. He’s since been allowed to return home where he’s resting.

Assistant Austin MacPhee will take charge of Saturday’s clash with St Mirren at Tynecastle, though Levein will still pick the team.

Breaking his silence for the first time since his admission to hospital, Levein took to Twitter to send his first post in over two years, saying he hopes to be back for the Saturday 15 September trip to Fir Park.

He wrote: “Out of Twitter retirement for a short period. I’d like everyone to know that I’m feeling great and aiming to be back in the dugout for the Motherwell match, all being well.

“I’d like to thank the paramedics and all staff in the CCU at ERI for their care and professionalism.

He also added: “I’d also like to thank the professional footballing family for their amazing support, it’s been overwhelming. Huge respect and gratitude to the Hearts supporters and those of other clubs (including our friends across the city) who have taken time to wish me well.”
