Hamilton Accies manager Billy Reid is asking for more of the same as his side look to build on last weekend’s 1-0 success at Morton by beating Partick Thistle for a second time in a Friday night fixture in 2012.

Reid’s side defeated Thistle 1-0 back in January and Reid said, “It would be terrific to do that again and build on the increased confidence we have after winning at Cappielow. We changed our shape for the Morton game to make us more robust defensively and we will need the same approach in this one.

“We want New Douglas Park to be a stronghold and getting a result against Thistle would help with that aim, but we will have to dig deep to do it.”

Table-topping Thistle will need to deal with increased expectations tonight, according to manager Jackie McNamara.

The Jags thumped closest challengers Dunfermline 5-1 last Saturday and that has brought talk of a title push to the boil. The Firhill manager said: “It was a great result and a great performance, and, of course, beating your biggest rivals for promotion is a huge confidence booster but it does have an another effect as well.

“Our fans turned up in big numbers and we excited them, and with that excitement comes an expectation that we will continue to do well. The next stage for our players is to show that they can handle the expectation that one good performance will follow another.”

Former Rangers, Ross County, Brighton and Hibs goalkeeper Graeme Smith has signed for Thistle as short term cover for injured shot-stopper Scott Fox and is line to make his debut.
