Marseille forward rejects Celtic switch, 25-year-old set to swap Govan for Glanford Park and a Newcastle United winger is on Rangers’ radar
Germain ‘not interested’ in Celtic switch
Valere Germain reportedly has no interest in swapping Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur for Parkhead, after the Marseille striker turned down a move to Celtic as part of a swap deal for Moussa Dembele.
Local lad Germain hit 18 goals for OM last season, and with Marseille keen to beef up their attack, Dembele is a target with the Ligue 1 side understood to be open to a swap deal involving Germain.
However, the 28-year-old - who is also on Bordeaux’s radar - doesn’t want to leave and so any swap deal for Dembele would have to include another player. (Le10sport)
Alnwick to Scunthorpe?
Jak Alnwick could team up with former Ibrox boss Stuart McCall, with the Rangers goalkeeper set for a loan move to Scunthorpe.
The 25-year-old has made 11 appearances since joining from Port Vale in January 2017, but has been pushed down the pecking order with the return of Allan McGregor.
Steven Gerrard is understood to have given the green light for the ‘keeper to head to Glanford Park for the season before the transfer window closes. (The Sun)
Rangers eye Aarons swoop
Rangers have been linked with Newcastle winger Rolando Aarons, but face stiff competition from both AEK Athens and Hull City.
The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at Hellas Verona, but doesn’t look like forcing his way into Rafa Benitez’s first team plans any time soon with up to four players ahead of him in the pecking order.
The Ibrox side are mulling over a replacement for Jamie Murphy after his season-ending injury, and have already targeted Albania international Eros Grezda, but could move for the Jamaican-born wide man in addition. (The Mirror)
Hearts eye Wighton
Hearts are closing in on a deal to sign Craig Wighton from Dundee in a six-figure transfer, believed to be around £250,000.
The 21-year-old striker is in the final year of his contract and is expected to undergo a medical in Edinburgh this week.
Hearts were linked previously with a bid to sign the Scotland Under-21 international in January 2016. (The Scotsman)
Mulumbu to Swans?
Swansea are leading the race to sign former Kilmarnock midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu.
The 31-year-old is also a target for a number of other English Championship sides but the Swans are in pole position according to reports. (The Sun)
Dundee set to win Miller race
Dundee look to have beaten St Mirren to the signing of former Rangers striker Kenny Miller.
The 38-year-old is understood to be close to agreeing a two-year deal at Dens Park after a seven-week stint as player-manager of Livingston. (The Sun)
Gers to extend Morelos deal
Rangers are on the verge of offering Alfredo Morelos a new deal in a bid to put off potential suitors such as Bordeaux.
The Colombian striker, who was yesterday handed a call-up to the national team, has been the subject of interest from three French sides but Rangers are reluctant to lose the 22-year-old. (Daily Mail)
Kamberi to miss Livi trip
Florian Kamberi will remain on the sidelines for Hibs’ trip to Livingston this Saturday as he continues to be troubled by injury.
The Swiss striker has endured a disrupted start to the season since being afflicted by pain in his knee while scoring a hat-trick in the 6-1 win over NSI Runavik at Easter Road in the opening Europa League qualifier in early July.
He will again miss out as Hibs travel to Livingston this weekend, with a view to returning for the home game against Kilmarnock on Saturday 15 September. (Evening News)
Buddies eye Edwards loan
Hearts midfielder Ryan Edwards has been linked with a loan move to St Mirren.
The Australian only joined the Jambos during the summer after leaving Partick Thistle following the Jags’ relegation, but is yet to make a competitive appearance for the first team.
And STV is reporting that the Buddies - managed by former Hibs boss Alan Stubbs - are keen to recruit the 24-year-old. (Evening News)
