Celtic set to announce Deila’s assistant

SFA bosses have thrown their support behind Michel Platini after the UEFA boss said he no longer supporter FIFA chief Sepp Blatter and claimed that a breath of fresh air is needed at football’s governing body.

Rangers sell 17k season tickets

Sales of Rangers season tickets so far mean the club is no longer reliant on a short term loan to remain afloat, it has emerged.

In a statement released to the London Stock Exchange this morning the club confirmed that 17,000 season tickets had been renewed so far for their upcoming SPFL Championship season. (Scotsman)

Paul Kane surprise as Petrie appears at meeting

Paul Kane, the ex-Hibernian player leading the campaign to oust chairman Rod Petrie, met with club owner Sir Tom Farmer yesterday however Petrie also attended the meeting.

Kane said: “It was important to open dialogue directly with the club owner and majority shareholder. I was very surprised Rod Petrie was present, especially after his disclaimer last week. Rod Petrie told me then that he was not involved in the running of the club.” (Scotsman)

McGregor says Rangers was an easy choice

New Rangers signing Darren McGregor says the prospect of playing in front of 50,000 fans at Ibrox meant that he was always going to sign for Ally McCoist rather than join Craig Levein and Robbie Neilson’s Tynecastle revolution.

The central defender was a free agent once his St Mirren contract expired last month but any thoughts of switching allegiances to the maroon half of Edinburgh were abandoned as soon as Rangers came calling. He said: “I think this eclipses that. You only have to look at the size of the club, the fan base and what they have to offer – there was really only one choice.” (Scotsman)

Hearts sign Gomis for Championship assault

Hearts have made their first signing since exiting administration after capturing former Dundee United midfielder Morgaro Gomis.

The Scottish Professional Football League has lifted the transfer embargo placed on the club for racking up £30million of debts after the Jambos were officially lifted out of administration following a hearing at the Court of Session on Wednesday.

That has allowed new head coach Robbie Neilson to tie-up 28-year-old Frenchman Gomis on a three-year deal.
