Efe Ambrose has been omitted from Celtic’s Champions League squad to face Hapoel Beer-Sheva.
The much-maligned defender has been dropped to make way for new signing Dorus de Vries.
Celtic had the option of swapping in one wildcard selection to their Champions League squad prior to 11pm before the night of the game.
The impending return of Dedryck Boyata and Erik Sviatchenko, along with recent signing Kolo Toure and the form of youngster Eoghan O’Connell, gives Brendan Rodgers plenty of options at centre back ahead of Ambrose.
The Nigerian started in the away legs against both Astana and Lincoln Red Imps, though he made errors in each game and was jeered by Celtic supporters after scoring an own goal in a friendly against Barcelona.
