Celtic’s hopes of re-signing Patrick Roberts appear to have taken a blow after the winger flew out to America with the rest of the Manchester City squad, according to reports.
The English Premier League side will play three glamour friendlies from the 20th to 29th of July and Roberts will be given the chance to prove he belongs in manager Pep Guardiola’s long-term plans.
Roberts spent 18 months at Celtic Park where he helped the club go unbeaten in last season’s treble-winning campaign.
A firm fans’ favourite, Celtic have been trying to bring the player back to the SPFL on a permanent deal. But, with other clubs also interested in the 20-year-old, City have postponed making a decision on the player’s future.
