ALLY MCCOIST has defended himself and Rangers by categorically stating the club did offer a contract to Craig Gordon when the Celtic stopper was a free agent in the summer.
McCoist was irked by Gordon’s comments that no offer had been made when the Scottish international was training at Murray Park earlier in the summer.
The Rangers boss believed it reflected badly on himself and his staff that they’d seemingly let a top class player go without a fight.
“What you need to know is that we did offer Craig Gordon a contract,” said McCoist.
“It is quite right the press should ask the question. You have been told what I have been told, but I’ve been put in a position where there was a question mark over myself and my staff for not offering a contract to a very good player.
“I gave Craig the opportunity to use our facilities. I haven’t heard from him since, but I can assure you an offer was made to Craig Gordon and his representative.”
