Cheeky Aberdeen fans poked fun at Rangers, and specifically the statement released on Thursday night, as they travelled to Dundee for the Friday night fixture against the Dark Blues.

Ahead of kick-off, a group of Dons fans housed in the Bob Shankly Stand at Dens Park, unfurled a banner with the phrase ‘Concomitant you reds’ written on it.

The message, a play on words with the ‘Come on you Reds’ chant, used the word ‘concomitant’, which caused much amusement when it cropped up in the Ibrox statement issued after Derek McInnes confirmed he would be staying at Pittodrie.

Both fans and journalists took to social media to comment on the use of the word, which means ‘naturally accompanying or associated’.

It was the basis for several tweets posted on Twitter in the aftermath of the statement being released.
