Aberdeen yesterday signed Anthony O’Connor, a former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international who can play in defence or midfield.
The 23-year-old joins from English Championship side Burton Albion subject to international clearance and he is likely to be involved in today’s
pre-season friendly at Brechin City.
“I am delighted to get him,” said manager Derek McInnes. “Anthony can play anywhere across the back four. He can also play as a screening midfielder and can give us a bit of presence in the middle of the park. We have been looking for that versatility in a signing. He is someone who will prove to be really important to us over a campaign.”
