Talbot out to cause shock on Firhill visit

The Lions travel to Glasgow to face a title-chasing Thistle team who have won 13 of their 14 home matches this season, but Livi are looking to make it three wins in a row.

Talbot says the West Lothian side’s players are desperate to get going again, after a tough spell of winter weather put paid to matches against Falkirk and Hamilton in the past seven days.

A win would put third-placed Livi on 46 points, ten behind the Jags in second spot.

Talbot said: “There’s nothing you can do about the weather. It is frustrating, but you’ve just got to look for the way ahead and hope the weather’s not as bad.

“They’re a very good side, but we’ll go there and try to upset the home crowd and get three points.

“They have got a good home record, but if we start thinking about that we’re pretty much defeating ourselves as soon as we go on the park.

“If we perform the way we can I don’t see why we can’t take three points from them.”

Livi are still hunting for a new manager, with the club’s board working through a shortlist of interviewees to take over the side as they head into the final part of the season.

The team face a blitz of games over the next month, with  call-offs meaning seven matches are scheduled for the next three weeks.

Midfielder Kyle Jacobs said the players had been well prepared under Richie Burke’s caretaker management and are keen to get started on their end of season run in.

He added: “We’ve been training well and Richie has got us up  for training every day. There’s a good team spirit at the moment.

“We’re taking every game one at a time and will try to win as many as possible.

“Obviously the games are coming thick and fast and you need to make sure you recover properly.

“Even then, we’re looking forward to having so many games.”
