Stirling University 2-1 Edinburgh City: Volley good show from Corr

Stirling UNIVERSITY kept their title bid on track after coming from behind to claim a 2-1 win over Edinburgh City.

City had taken an early lead after Ross Guthrie was given a clear sight of goal inside the right edge of the box. While Stirling keeper Kevin Walker did well to parry Guthrie’s first effort, the midfielder’s mishit follow-up drifted temptingly to the back post where Paul Devlin headed home.

The home side drew level five minutes before the break when a low cross from Paul Sludden alluded both attack and defence to settle in the bottom corner.

The University’s decisive 68th minute goal came when substitute Chris Geddes found Liam Corr unmarked in a packed box and the midfielder executed his volley perfectly to seal the win for his side.

Sludden should have put the game to bed ten minutes from time but, despite rounding Stobie, he blasted over..
