Stirling Albion keen to leave foot of table behind

Stirling Albion manager Greig McDonald is looking to relieve some of the pressure that has been on his players and himself for the past four months by securing a win over visitors East Stirlingshire tonight and finally moving off bottom spot in the Third Division.

McDonald’s men have been at the foot of the table since October and Saturday’s fine 
3-1 win over Montrose has given them the chance to leapfrog the Shire with a success at Forthbank.

McDonald said: “We have been under pressure and receiving criticism for a while so a win in this game would reduce that. I believe that we have been in a false position but it is time now to do our talking on the pitch. The performance against Montrose was the best I have seen in my time in charge and we could have scored five or six. If we go about things like that again we can defeat the Shire and then start looking to catch Clyde.”

Gary Thom is free of suspension and new signing Ross Forsyth is fully over his illness, but they are unlikely to start as McDonald does not want to change a winning side.

East Stirling head coach John Coughlin is telling his men that they will need to hold firm tonight. “Stirling will see this as a great opportunity to get off the bottom so we have to ensure we stand up to that 
and force our way into the game,” he said.
